BY BRUCE BOUCHER….Christopher Media Relations

NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver Ted Christopher is the latest driver to file an entry for the 56th Annual Sunoco Race of Champions at Oswego Speedway. Christopher will be driving the Al-Lee Installations #36 owned by Eddie Whelan. Christopher and Whelan are currently second in the WMT championship point standings with three victories in 2006.

Christopher of Plainville, Connecticut, is one of the most versatile drivers in America. In addition of racing a Modified, he has also competed in selected races on the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, the NASCAR Busch Series and the NASCAR Busch East Series. In 2006 he has also added road racing to his busy schedule, driving a Porsche for the famed Brumos Racing team in the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona International Speedway. He is one of the most accomplished short track racers of the decade, including the 2001 NASCAR Weekly Racing Series National Champion and the 2000 NASCAR WRS New England Regional Champion. He is a five-time Stafford Speedway track champion and four-time Thompson Speedway track champion.

SUPER MODIFIED STAR JOE GOSEK TO MAKE SECOND CONSECUTIVE START SUNOCO RACE OF CHAMPIONS 200 START.

BY ROC MEDIA…

Super Modified standout Joe Gosek filed an entry on Monday for the 56th running of the Sunoco Race of Champions Modified 200 at Oswego Speedway.  The $10,000 to win event takes place this Saturday at Oswego Speedway.

Gosek is making his second consecutive start in the R.o.C 200 behind the wheel of a Lee Sherwood owned Modified.  Last year Gosek worked his way solidly into a top five only to be involved in a late race tangle.  Gosek, competed in the 1996 Indy 500 and finished in 22nd position after starting in 31st.  He finished two spots ahead of a young Tony Stewart in the ’96 edition of the event.  His start in the the Indy 500 and Race of Champions makes Gosek one of very few people to compete in the history of the two longest run events in the United States.

The Sherwood owned Modified will certainly be a car that is capable of making it to victory lane.  Sherwood has run strong at all of the R.o.C tour stops at Oswego in 2006.  He garnered his first career Oswego win back at the May opener.  The Gosek car is a twin to the car that Sherwood will drive.  With Gosek’s knowledge of the “Steel Palace” this team will be one to contend with.
