FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SUNOCO RACE OF CHAMPIONS WEEKEND SEPTEMBER 14, 15 AND 16 AT OSWEGO SPEEDWAY.  THURSDAY NIGHT RACING TO BE HIGHLIGHTED BY MINI STOCK 30 LAP SPECIAL ON THE INNER LOOP.

OSWEGO, NYThe excitement of the 56th edition of the Sunoco Race of Champions Weekend is hitting new levels as the event quickly approaches.  The racing goes green one night earlier this season with a special Thursday night of racing on the Oswego Speedway 3/8 mile inner loop.  An open practice session will be run between 1 and 5 p.m. during the day on Thursday as well.  The Sunoco Race of Champions Weekend is set for September 14, 15 and 16th.

Thursday night racing will feature the annual Mini Stock event along with the INEX Legends and a 4 Cylinder Enduro.  Racing will get underway at 7:30 p.m.  This will mark the first night race held on the inner-loop at Oswego Speedway.  The evening of racing should be a fun filled event for everyone involved.

As in past years the Mini Stock portion of the evening will consist of a 30 lapper that will pay $300 to three different “best of class winners”.  The first place cars that compete with a front wheel drive asphalt car, a dirt car or a rear wheel drive asphalt car will each earn the bonus.  Andre Roggie has been a dominant force over the past several years at Oswego Speedway in the Race of Champions Mini Stock event.  Roggie has won three of the last four Mini Stock R.o.C events.  The 30 lap event is always a fan favorite as a tremendous mix of car styles take to the speedway.

With this years race on the 3/8 mile inner loop the Mahoning Valley teams are looking forward with great anticipation.  The inner loop racing brings the track size much closer to the quarter mile they are accustomed to racing on.  Race of Champions owner Andrew Harpell remarked, “We wanted to run the inner loop this year to help even the competition out a bit for this year’s race.  The Ford Focus Midgets and Legends have run the inner loop but we will be the first to run under the lights.”  “A lot of drivers are really looking forward to it,” he added.

In addition to the traditional Mini Stock race, the INEX Legends Cars will be in action with a 30 lap event and a 4 Cylinder Enduro will complete the opening night inner loop action.  The Sunoco Race of Champions Weekend gets underway on Thursday, September 14th with an open practice session between 1 and 5 p.m.  After that the racing will get underway with inner-loop racing with the Mini Stocks, Legends Cars and a Four Cylinder Enduro.  This will mark the first ever night time race in the inner-loop at Oswego Speedway.   Special lights are being brought in for the inner loop for this event.  The night racing program goes green at 7:30 p.m.

The Friday schedule will include the SST Modified 100 lap showdown along with the Limited Super Modifieds and Street Stocks.  On Saturday the Modifieds will be set to do battle with the 56th running of the fall classic.  The Modified 200 winner will earn $10,000 with over $22,000 in bonus lap money available this year.  The Late Models, Super Stocks and Cup Lites will join the action on Saturday.
